BIZFED PAC ANNOUNCES FIRST ROUND OF ENDORSEMENTS IN 13 CITIES ACROSS LOS ANGELES COUNTY
LOS ANGELES, CA – The BizFed PAC, a project of the Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed), announced its support of 30 jobs friendly candidates for the upcoming March 7 elections. These candidates represent 13 cities spanning across L.A. County, from Bell to Redondo Beach, West Hollywood to Norwalk.
“Supporting business-friendly candidates boosts the economy at the city level, the county level and beyond,” said BizFed PAC Chair James Ward Litz. “I am confident our endorsed candidates will advocate for local policies and projects that support business and strengthen our regional economy.”
Local candidates interviewed with the BizFed PAC Board to discuss a range of issues before they were considered for endorsement. Candidates expressed their thoughts and opinions on local matters such as short term rentals, parcel taxes, oil and gas revenue, and local ballot measures.
This is the tenth election cycle in which the BizFed PAC has participated on such a wide scale to promote candidates who are dedicated to implementing real change and supporting good local governance. To date, the BizFed PAC has supported more than 140 successful candidates in cities throughout Los Angeles County who have helped to foster positive economic change within their respective municipalities.
The BizFed PAC is proud to support these 19 incumbents and 11 challengers:
City of Bell: The PAC endorsed incumbent Ana Maria Quintana for City Council.
City of Bellflower: The PAC Board voted to support incumbents Dan Koops and Juan Garza for City Council.
City of Beverly Hills: The PAC endorsed incumbents Nancy Krasne and John Mirisch, along with challenger Eliot Finkel for City Council.
City of Covina: The PAC Board voted to endorse incumbents John King and Jorge Marquez for City Council.
City of Glendora: The PAC endorsed incumbent Karen Davis and newcomer
Michael Allawos for City Council.
City of Huntington Park: The PAC Board voted to support incumbents Valentin Amezquita and Karina Macias for City Council.
City of Lakewood: The PAC endorsed incumbents Steve Croft, Diane DuBois and Todd Rogers for City Council.
City of Manhattan Beach: BizFed PAC voted to support challenger Nancy Hersman along with former Manhattan Beach Councilmembers Richard Montgomery and Steve Napolitano for City Council.
City of Monterey Park: The PAC endorsed incumbent Hans Liang and newcomer Randall Avila for City Council.
City of Norwalk: The PAC voted to support newcomers Esperanza “Espie” Free and Margarita Rios for City Council.
City of Redondo Beach: The PAC endorsed current Mayor Stephen Aspel in his re-election bid, along with appointed incumbent Martha Barbee in District 1 and challengers Doug Rodriguez in District 2 and John Gran in District 4.
City of South Gate: The PAC Board voted to support longtime Councilman W.H. “Bill” De Witt in his re-election bid, along with newcomer Jose De La Paz for City Council.
City of West Hollywood: The PAC endorsed incumbents John Duran and John Heilman for City Council.
