OCBC, Feb. 7, 2017
On a 9-3 decision, the South Coast Air Quality Management District Board (AQMD) postponed a vote on the Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP) until March 3. OCBC, along with other business groups such as the Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed), supported the current form of the AQMP, which lays out a comprehensive outline aiming to reduce smog-forming emissions by 50 percent in Southern California by 2023. New AQMD board member Sheila Kuehl, a Los Angeles County Supervisor, proposed a number of amendments to the already aggressive plan, at an already late stage of the process, that would have severe and unintended impacts on the business community — particularly for warehouses, ports, railyards, etc. CLICK HERE to read BizFed’s coalition paper on the issue.
